    The Big Picture:

    Are you a self-starter who loves to problem solve?

    Mortenson is currently seeking a Project Accountant Supervisor to provide accounting, analysis, and financial support to project teams for the Operating Group. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary as you will be interacting with staff at all levels. Your ability to remain flexible, inventive, dedicated, and efficient with a high level of integrity and confidentiality is vital to your success in this role. This position would supervise the Federal Contracting and High Voltage Transmission Group.

    Responsibilities

    What will you be doing?

    • Review contracts and understands contract terms, prepare summaries of key contract terms
    • Administration of project set-ups, ensuring conformity to the contract terms
    • Perform and review budget allocations
    • Provide help to project cost functions and assist project management with cost issues
    • Provide mentorship on policy and/or system
    • Support project teams in developing Project Financial Projections (PFP)
    • Review, and update PFP submissions
    • Identify and advance any issues or significant changes to forecasts
    • Work with Accounts Payable to set up new vendors, coordinate payments, or daily check issuance
    • Establish new subcontracts and process subcontractor pay applications
    • Ensure the accurate and timely deployment of: project billing process, subcontractor certified payroll reports, specialized reporting (as requested)
    • Support collections of receivables
    • Ensure that cash receipts are poste
    • Inform necessary team member of aged receivables
    • Review unsettled receivable balances and make adjustments as necessary
    • Collect sales and use tax information
    • Support the billing, reporting, and inventory processes for equipment operations
    • Provide support for project audits
    • May assist in the preparation of the monthly financial reports as directed by the Group Accounting Manager

    Qualifications

    How will you succeed?

    • Minimum of 7 years related experience
    • Previous experience with large ERP System
    • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
    • Displaying flexibility, a positive attitude, and professional customer service skills
    • Ability to understand difficult construction business concepts
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail as well as an ability to work on multiple projects at a time
    • Strong written and oral communication skills, demonstrate the capability to communicate complex financial concepts to internal and external customers
    • Ability to set direction and implement changes across a team using leadership skills
    • Lead team members by example in: resourcefulness, self-starting work habits, problem solving based on information, and good judgement

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration or related field; professional certification preferred (CPA, CCIFP, or CMA)
