    The Big Picture:

    Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Energy Production Manager with the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The Energy Production Manager manages the MES (Mortenson Energy Services) remote operations center including strategic business direction, business development, budgeting, staffing, etc. This individual is responsible for P&L of the monitoring business and employee management functions. This position is located in San Antonio, TX.



    1. Work with customers to understand their needs for remote electronic monitoring and developing a product to satisfy market demands
    • Keep touch points with internal and external customers to ensure that services provided are meeting expectations and contractual requirements
    1. Determine the strategy for the remote operations product line of the Mortenson Energy Services business
    • Forecast revenue in accordance with marketplace dynamics and budget financial and other resources to meet market demands
    • Responsible for managing the operation within budget constraints
    1. Collect raw data from multiple plant operating and monitoring systems and convert it into useful information for internal and external reports.  Experience with software analytics systems such as SkySpark is a plus.
    2. Monitor and respond, remotely and onsite, to alarms in site SCADA systems
    • Determine urgency of alarms and dispatch site technicians in cases where the alarm cannot be satisfied electronically
    • Understand site contracts, operating requirements, and urgency levels
    1. Work across functions to support the development of a demand response product.  Experience with software such as HOMER grid is preferred.
    2. Write functional processes and procedures for direct reports and provide guidance pertaining to the processes and procedures of direct reports
    3. Provide technical consulting to internal and external customers to resolve site control and data acquisition system failures
    • Specify the changes and steps required to expand current system capabilities
    1. Responsible for general management of recruiting, performance management, career development, expense report and timesheet approval as well as general leadership and coaching of junior employees

    What do you need to succeed? 

    Education and Experience Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering or computer science
    • Minimum eight to ten years related experience
    • Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
    • Experience with ROCC/NOCC setup and operation
    • Understanding of computer networking and remote operations
    • Customer interface, sales, and financial management
    • Ability to meet NERC CIP background and training requirements
    • Ability to learn new concepts, follow verbal instructions, and read and execute written procedures
    • Use judgement to prioritize when handling multiple concurrent issues
    • Communicate effectively with multiple levels of internal and external organizations
    • Speak clearly and concisely in response to direct questions
    • Current driver’s license
