    Summary:

    Mortenson is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Estimator in Denver, CO to add to our team. The Senior Estimator will provide leadership, coordination, and final preparation of trade estimates (mechanical, electrical and/or plumbing) on large and complex work projects.

    Responsibilities

    Lead estimating efforts on large and complex projects:

    • Provide conceptual estimates, detailed estimates, detailed self-perform work estimates and cost models
    • Organize, research and strategically plan for trade estimate preparation, pricing, scheduling and final submission to the customer.
    • Determine which subcontractors to include in bidding process
    • Determine pricing to be used in final estimate
    • Provide work assignments to the MEP estimating team and ensure accurate estimating information provided is incorporated into final estimate
      •  Includes, but not limited to:  quantity surveys and cost estimates, subcontractor proposals, research on tax laws, collective bargaining agreements, permits, etc
    • Write and submit Request for Information 

    Maintain regular interface and open communication:

    • Interface regularly with team members, owners, architects and engineers to ensure complete understanding of the project scope
    • Ensure that team members, including subcontractors, understand initial project requirements and ongoing updates to those requirements

    Other duties, as assigned including

    • Research and analyze historical project data for application to current project
    • Assist in selecting building systems
    • Assist in selecting software programs to be utilized
    • Assist in project scheduling

     

    Qualifications

    • Associate or Bachelor degree in Estimating, Construction Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent is preferred 
    • Minimum six years in the estimating field, preferably experience with a Mechanical or Electrical Contractor
    • LEED AP, DBIA professional
    • Microsoft Office, project and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate level
    • Proficient with building/estimating techniques and software: ISqFt, ICE/Bid2Win, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), Bluebeam/PDF, Google Earth
    • Proven ability to fulfill all responsibilities for multiple, complex projects
    • Detail orientated sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks
    • Possess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices
