    Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Senior Geology Specialist for our Civil Group who has the ability to efficiently analyze, interpret, and prepare geological, geochemical or geophysical information from sources to determine the ability to process aggregate on current and prospective projects.  


    • Analyze and interpret geological, geochemical, or geophysical information from sources such as survey data, well logs, bore holes, or aerial photos
    • Plan and conduct geological, geochemical, or geophysical field studies or surveys, sample collection, or drilling and testing programs used to collect data for research or application
    • Identify deposits of construction materials suitable for use as concrete aggregates, road fill, or other applications
    • Select or develop mineral location, extraction, and production methods, based on factors such as safety, cost, and deposit characteristics.
    • Use USGS, GIS, and other electronic databases to scour a region for potential sources
    • Facilitate geotechnical testing programs (i.e. borings, geophysics) to determine suitability of a particular site under consideration for mining
    • Determine from geotechnical reports and data the potential to produce quality processed aggregate
    • Build relationships with landowners and negotiate land-use, mineral rights, and royalty option agreements


    Required Skills and Education:


    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, geology, environmental management, environmental science, biology, or related field
    • Minimum eight years of experience
    • One year experience with commercial mining processes (i.e. blasting, crushing, screening, washing)
    • One year experience in new and existing mines and developing restoration plans
    • Travel up to 75% of time may be necessary to fulfill the objectives of the position.
