    Mortenson is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Safety Engineer to implement Mortenson’s Zero Injury Safety program across multiple project sites and ensure a safe work environment for team members, subcontractors and visitors to the solar project construction work site.


    Organization, flexibility, outstanding customer focus and strong communication are critical in performing duties which include, but are not limited to:

    • Implement and administer safety program at each worksite for team members
      • Assist project management team in developing site specific safety program and activities
      • Formulate, coordinate and conduct safety orientation and training programs
      • Document and track all safety violations, unsafe conditions, etc.
      • Conduct safety work area audits
      • Conduct project’s loss control data/document collection and trend analyses
      • Conduct or assist with major incident analysis
      • Record, monitor, and analyze Safety, Injury and Hazard statistics 
      • Coordinate OSHA reporting and posting requirements
      • Monitor and review subcontractor activities for safety concerns
      • Review Safety Submittals and attend preconstruction and preparatory meetings with subcontractors
      • Manage Return to Work and Modified duty assignments
      • Train and mentor project supervision on electrical processes i.e. Control of Hazardous Energy, Outages, Energizations, Methods of Procedures


    • Provide resource of safety related information
      • Evaluate and offer solutions for industrial hygiene concerns
      • Maintain operational knowledge of construction safety, OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, 70E, NESC, CSA and other applicable standards and procedures
      • Serve as resource for safety issues or concerns for all project team members/management
      • Attend and/or chair safety meetings


    • Additional Responsibilities
      • Interface with client safety personnel, union representatives, insurance risk engineers, etc.
      • Accompany safety, health, insurance and OSHA personnel on work-site tours
      • Ensure maintenance and inspection of safety equipment and protective wear


    Education and Required Skills:

    • Bachelor’s degree in field of safety, occupational health or equivalent and a minimum of six years of electrical construction safety experience or a high school diploma, CHST Certification, OSHA 500 or 501 and minimum of 10 years of continuous construction/general industry experience leading crews and planning work, to include at least 6 years as a dedicated construction/general industry safety professional responsible for managing project safety programs, conducting / reviewing hazard analyses and developing controls, conducting safety training, and planning work activities or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
    • Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional (CESCP)
    • Ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance
    • English/Spanish bilingual preferred
    • Current valid driver’s license required
    • Electrical journeyman or master license preferred
    • Membership in professional safety organization i.e. NFPA, IEEE, ASSE preferred
    • Ability to interpret and communicate electrical industry standards, i.e. NFPA, 70E, NESC, CSA and Z462
    • Strong working knowledge of electrical theory ac & dc
    • Ability to work in Microsoft Office and pertinent safety related software programs


    This position will typically spend 75% time in the field, 25% in office and may travel often between multiple sites. 

    Overnight travel of up to 100% may be necessary to fulfill the objectives of the position.
