Summary: 

Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Enclosure Executive with the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The Enclosure Executive is responsible for leading Mortenson’s corporate technical and risk management approach to facility enclosure systems. This includes technical studies, best practice development, investigations and site visits. Responsible to provide guidance to Group and project team members to understand, manage and influence selection of facility enclosure systems of proper design and the highest technical quality.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with operating groups to ensure sound engineering principles, construction and forensic best practices are utilized as it relates to facility enclosure systems.
  • Perform or guide analysis, peer review, and consultation of enclosure systems, such as, curtain walls, wall systems, roofing, below and above-grade waterproofing, air and water barriers, caulking, and other related construction.
  • Perform or guide enclosure related construction observations, administration, and evaluation of contractor performance to ensure project deliverables and quality standards are achieved.
  • Review or guide review of construction-related drawings, technical specifications, reports, and other construction documents related to enclosure systems for new and existing facility construction projects.
  • Observe site functional performance testing and review construction mockup designs.
  • Perform investigations and site reviews to determine design and repair options, building investigation reports, and other construction documents related to facility investigations.
  • Participate in design meetings with owners, developers, architects, product manufactures, and other consultants. Provide technical advice to customer and project teams.
  • Participate in facility asset evaluation and management projects, including property condition assessment, reserve studies, pre-purchase surveys, and asset management for enclosure systems.
  • Travel up to 50% of the time dependent on local work load and project locations.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Proven success managing and contributing to enclosure related projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of building materials and construction processes for design, construction, and/or repair of facility enclosures, waterproofing, cladding systems, roofs, parking structures, and other related construction.
  • Excellent communicator possessing strong writing, verbal communication, and influencing skills.
  • Interest in innovative design, new technologies, sustainability and high performing facilities.
  • Possess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices.
  • Microsoft Office, project and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate level.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Office Suite, and related programs is preferred.
  • Proven positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills
  • Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies
  • 10 years’ minimum work experience required in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Building Science, Construction Management or other construction design-related discipline.
  • Technical expertise in facility enclosure systems is required.
  • Current driver’s license.
  • This position can be based out of any of our regional offices, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Phoenix, Denver or Seattle.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Building Science, Construction Management or other construction design-related disciplines preferred
